Takeda has announced the findings of a real-world data analysis that demonstrates further evidence of the benefits of its gut-selective immunosuppressive biologic Entyvio.

The study compared the effectiveness of Entyvio with anti-TNF therapy in patients with moderate to severely-active ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, with Takeda's drug associated with significantly higher 12-month cumulative rates of mucosal healing.

“Takeda has reported real-world data analysis findings that show the benefits that Entyvio can offer for people with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.“

Entyvio was also able to deliver numerically higher steroid-free clinical remission rates, backing up the results of clinical studies that show how it can particularly benefit bio-naive patients.

Nearly 1,900 patients were involved in the VICTORY study consortium, the findings of which were recently presented at the Congress of the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation in Austria.

Mona Khalid, senior director and head of evidence and value generation at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, said: "We're encouraged by the large compendium of data for Entyvio regarding endoscopic remission and mucosal healing in both clinical studies and the real-world setting."
